If any of you are out there who followed my successful blog “Thrifty at Sixty” you will remember that my blog was de-monitized by Google around 1.5 years ago. Google falsely claimed its advertisers didn’t like my content (I was pro-conservative) and additionally falsely accused me of clicking on the advertisers ads so that I could earn more money.
What a crock of poop.
Well, anyway, I was very distraught over all of this because I really worked hard to make my blog popular and attract as many readers as possible. Each and every month, Google sent me a check AND each and every month I earned that money! I was so distraught over what happened to me that I decided to take the ‘Google Poison Pill‘. That’s a place you go to and with a click of your mouse, you can have your whole online Google world obliterated, as if you never existed. And that’s what I did. I had Google erase my whole entire Google life that dated back to 2007. You will never find a post from me, a photograph from me or anything else to do with any of the successful Google blogs I had written since 2007.
Apparently, I wasn’t the only person distraught over what Google did to its writers. Yesterday, in the mail, I received a notice that a Class Action lawsuit was brought against Google and Google lost! (Free Range Content Inc v. Google LLC) I was named as part of the class action suit against Google and all I had to do was file a claim form, which I did immediately and I would be entitled to a part of the settlement.
Plaintiffs brought this class action lawsuit against Google Inc., as predecessor to Google LLC (“Google” or “Defendant”), and alleged that when Google terminated AdSense publishers for alleged breach of contract, it improperly withheld unpaid amounts in those publishers’ AdSense accounts. Plaintiffs alleged that Google’s conduct, among other things, breached the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing. Google has at all times denied any and all alleged wrongdoing. In a class action, one or more people called proposed Class Representatives (here, Free Range Content, Inc., Coconut Island Software, Inc., Taylor Chose, and Matthew Simpson (“Plaintiffs”)) sue on behalf of people who have similar claims. This group is called a “class” and the persons included in a settlement of these claims are called “Settlement Class Members.” One court resolves the issues for all of the Settlement Class Members, except for those who exclude themselves from the Settlement Class. The Honorable Beth Labson Freeman is in charge of this Action. The parties agreed to resolve these matters before these issues were decided by the Court. The Court still has to decide whether to finally approve the settlement.
There is justification in this world. I’m not expecting much (anything over $3.00 is good!). It’s not about the money anyway. It’s about how we all were treated. I never once self-clicked on any of the ads my blog contained (because I knew that was verboten!) And advertisers had absolutely no right to tell me what to write about or what to say. I made sure I had absolutely NO political ads on my blog specifically because of this.
Personally, I think ALL social media now sucks. YouTube demonetizes any video THEY deem inappropriate. It’s already well proven that FaceBook and Twitter are bias towards conservatives (It lists many Republicans as racists). Ditto for Instagram, Snapchat and whatever else is out there. Social Media is really a disgrace and I try to use as little of them as possible!
Wanda Sykes calls President Trump an orangutan and she gets laughs. Roseanne Barr calls Valerie Jarrett an ape and she loses her income for the rest of her life. Samantha Bee calls Ivanka Trump a ‘feckless cunt’ and she gets laughs (and later on that evening attends and receives an award!) Bee says ‘oops, sorry’ and CBS is content with the apology and moves on.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m not too proud to be an American anymore. This is a country totally out of control, dishonest, corrupt, two-sided, slanted, bigoted and disenchanted. This country is intent on destroying whatever it was that made America a great country in the first place: law-abiding citizens, respect for authority, a united citizen base, family values, knowing the difference between right and wrong. Today it’s all lies and deceit, no more respect for God and country….these things are gone and they are never, ever coming back.
Perhaps, in a way, I am glad to be 67 years old. Who the f**k would want to live in this country after experiencing a once Great America. Trump can’t make America great again. He has almost 100% of obstacles in his way. Yet, he continues to try. And if one person sends me a derogatory comment about him, please be forewarned Word Press gives me your IP address AND your email address. Google never did! I wonder why?
All I really care about is my Social Security check and my Medicare. Let me go die off in peace. And should those sacred benefits be tampered with, so what? I’ve got enough in savings to sustain me till I am 100. If there were another place on this planet that was better than America, I’d go. Unfortunately or fortunately, however you look at it, there isn’t….so here I will stay. And turn off as much social media as possible.
