Old Orchard Beach

I didn’t think Maine could be known for its beaches. I also thought no one swam in the ocean here because it’s so cold. With climate change comes the changing of preconceived notions. The beach here in Old Orchard is alive and well.

Maine beaches are deserted after Labor Day

Who knew?

This opens up a whole new world of possibilities. I might just be here next summer. Great beach, fantastic seafood.

I’m enjoying my time here so far

  1. You guys picked the best time to go . We have been in summer. Avoid !! Honey Tonk with tons of kids and high pricing on everything . This is the perfect relaxing time to be at orchard beach. Smart move !!

  2. Reminds me of the boardwalks in southern part of New Jersey where we lived For seven years and Rehobeth Beach in Delaware. How many restaurants are still open there and are all the retail shops closed? I wondering if the boardwalk retail stores close in most of New England shoreline towns right after Labor Day? Sincerely, Lara

    • Hi Lara. The boardwalk was closed. Stupid. Most shops too. silly. There were people walking around just aching to spend money. Oh well. It was 90 degrees.
You can’t run your life or business by the calendar anymore. Good weather lasts longer these days.
