Wintertime Blues

sore throatI’m down with a sore throat. Didn’t take me too long hanging out in 17F degree weather to have it affect my health. The other strange thing that has been happening to me for several weeks now, is that I’ve started waking up around 3:30AM. I get out of bed by 4AM, make myself a pot of coffee, do some computer work and then I go back to sleep around 9AM. I usually sleep till noon time and by then, with the sun setting now around 4PM, the day is over for me.

I have no idea why this is happening. I can’t stop or change it either. It’s been wrecking havoc with my day-to-day activities. Plus, because of the recent extremely cold weather, I’ve been staying inside the house a lot more. Not good. I think my body is on strike because usually it’s in a much warmer climate by now. My body can’t take the cold nor fight back.

Hang in there little girl. Next month we’ll be in Florida and I already made plans for us next year. As God is my witness, this is the last winter we have to endure up in the mountains of New York. By next January 1st, we’ll be outta here and on some beach somewhere!

In the interim, blogging (thinking and reasoning, for that matter too!) has been strained, to say the least. All I want is my new, heated bed and my remote control. Been watching lots of old 1970’s flicks on Amazon Prime (for free, till the month is up).

Guess I’ve got the ole wintertime blues.

  1. Oh my gosh, Cindi, I’m with you. Winter sucks the life out of me. I’ve been already looking for my next sun vacation for February. Not sure if I’ll go, but after these 10 inches of snow, I’m done and ready for spring.

    • HI Sharon. We have a BIG storm heading our way this weekend. Not looking forward to it at all. Thankfully, I’ll be back in Florida come February. I just hope I can make it there this long. UGH!

  2. Okay – what’s really strange is I am doing the exact same thing – sleeping absolutely crazy hours – get up – drink coffee – go back to bed and sleep until 12 or 1 o’clock PM – I told my husband I was going to force myself to change and get back to my regular sleep hours – that lasted one day. So I have decided to go with the flow and let nature takes it’s course. Here in Wisconsin it has been so dreary and the lack of sunshine makes me crazy – lived in Florida for 10 years and was use to the Sunshine State.. I really don’t sleep more hours – I just sleep a split shift – but never did that before –

    • Hi Mary Ellen. You are the third person to tell this to me. The other ladies are doing what you are doing: just going with the flow. One woman told me it was because of the seasons. I’m finding it insane! And like you, I spent most of my wintertime in Florida for like a zillion years. This is the first year I haven’t. Hmmmm. Very strange. Thanks for sharing.
