Time For Spring Cleaning

As soon as the weather gets a bit warmer, it’s time for me to start my own spring cleaning. It’s a time when I open the windows and start refreshing my home from top to bottom. This year we don’t have that many home repairs or upkeeps to perform, so I thought I would start my spring cleaning on the next most important thing to me. And that would be ME!

I decided it’s time for me to upgrade my wardrobe. I need to face the hard fact that I am NEVER going to be a size 12 ever again. Gosh, I’m just barely holding on to a size 16. Ouch. I’ve been on a diet for the past 1.5 years and guess what? I’m not going to lose any good amount of weight. I’m lucky I am the way I am now. At least I can still buy clothes off the rack. It’s time for me to get out of my stretchie clothes and pound myself into a real pair of jeans. And I’m not talking about Levi jeans or Wrangler jeans. I’m talking about jeans that have been designed to be both fashionable and fluid on a mature woman’s more reasonable shape. Gulp. Guilty as charged. It’s not the 1960s anymore. I need to get with the program. I need to dress more stylishly, more comfy and more in the 21st Century. UGH!

I got up early this morning and starting purging clothes out of my closet that no longer fit me and has no more meaning to my life. Buh bye!

For me, the only clothing line I can contemplate (because the clothes actually fit me) is Chico’s (click here). Chico’s main store, if you ever get a chance to shop there, is super expensive. Chico’s knows that, so they offer other alternatives for the varied pocketbook. There’s Chico’s Off The Rack (click here) for offers up to 50% off. There’s Chico’s Outlet Stores (check your own area for an outlet near you by clicking here). And then there’s the other alternative, which is the current one I will be using exclusively, and that’s having a good girlfriend who works at Chico’s and thus can pass on her discount to me, or alert me when a favorite, timeless piece of clothing goes on sale and my good girlfriend alerts me to the upcoming sale. Yeah baby! She told me that several times during the year, Chico’s will sell off their top clothing, online, at only $19.99 each BUT it can only be purchased for one day only AND it can only be purchased on line.

The closest discount store nearest me is 42 to 44 miles away. In another state! Hubs and I will probably plan a day trip and make an adventure out of it. I need to actually try on the clothes to see what size I truly am. In the interim, our local, in-my-town consignment shop sells Chico clothes every once in a while. I’m going to stop in there first over the weekend and start my wardrobe makeover ASAP. I need serious help. I need to get myself together. I need to reinvent myself yet once again. I already have a new handbag, jewelry and a few Chico tops that I purchased at the Vero Beach Florida outlet store.

So, I’m off to a good start.

  1. Love this. There is nothing I like better than a good wardrobe clean out and refreshing. One of my favorite things to do in the whole world.

    • I’m starting to like it too,Ann. Starting off with some great looks for spring and Easter I’ll build my new wardrobe slowly. It feels nice to dress well and look well. It makes me feel good inside and out. Can’t wait for my kids to see their new mommy. 😂

  2. Love it! Glad you’re taking care of YOU ! Another great clothing line I LOVE is Macy’s JM Collectibles and Style & Co..

They are reasonably priced IF you shop the sales and use coupons. I’ve purchased a bunch of stuff there and it’s fab.

Their sizes run a little large so I can get away with wearing a L instead of XL. They also have a “curvy” line, which is awesome.

Happy shopping! Can’t wait to see you in your new duds !

  3. Perhaps after you figure out your size at Chicos – 0-3 – sounds a lot better than the teens, you can visit shopgoodwill.com and type in chicos the search box and you will get pages of Chicos stuff – you can narrow by size too. To reduce shipping costs – you can combine shipping for purchases up to a week (pay all together) – BUT they have to be sold from the same goodwill store, max 20 lbs per combination. Hope this helps.

  4. I like shopping at Goodwill, too, or as we call it-GW! Our own personal little shop! But I have a problem because they spray the clothes and any fabrics with Febreze and I am allergic to that. Do all GW’s spray their clothes and how do you get the smell out? I’ve tried products from Amazon that are supposed to remove the Febreze, and also vinegar and Oxiclean. Nothing works. Help! Ann M
